Woman Identified as Victim in Woolwich Murder Investigation

Detectives investigating the death of a woman in Woolwich have identified the victim as 43-year-old Marianne Kilonzi.

Incident Overview

Police were called to a residential address on Argyll Road, SE18, at around 5:25 pm on Friday, 17 January, following concerns for the welfare of the occupant. Upon arrival, officers found Marianne’s body.

No arrests have been made at this time, and a murder investigation is ongoing.

Police Statement

Detective Chief Inspector Suzanne Soren of Specialist Crime South, who is leading the investigation, expressed her condolences to Marianne’s family and colleagues:

“This is a tragic crime, and our thoughts at this incredibly difficult time are with Marianne’s loved ones and colleagues. We are in contact with her family, who are being supported by specialist officers.”

DCI Soren reassured the public:

“Whilst we are in the early stages of this investigation, we believe the suspect was known to Marianne, and there is no wider risk to the public.”

Appeal for Information

DCI Soren urged anyone with information to come forward, stating:

“This is a fast-paced investigation. If you have any information that could assist us, please contact the police by calling 101 and quoting CAD 5231/17Jan. Alternatively, you can report anonymously via Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111.”
