Crimestoppers, an independent charity, is offering a £5,000 reward for information leading to the conviction of the driver responsible for a hit-and-run incident in Hounslow. The incident left a mother with life-changing injuries, rendering her unable to fully care for her child.
On 3 February at approximately 12:25, Rajdeep Kaur, 37, was pushing her 13-month-old daughter in a pram along North Hyde Lane. As she crossed the road, a silver BMW, traveling in the wrong direction and overtaking traffic, collided with her, narrowly missing the pram. The impact sent Mrs. Kaur flying several feet into the air, resulting in life-threatening injuries.
The pram was left in the road, at risk of being struck by other vehicles. The driver of the BMW failed to stop at the scene and has not yet come forward.
Emergency services quickly responded, transporting Mrs. Kaur to the hospital with leg and pelvis injuries. Thankfully, her daughter remained unharmed. Mrs. Kaur remained hospitalised for several months and, although she miraculously survived, she now faces severely limited mobility and is unable to independently care for her child. With the assistance of a walking frame, she can only take a few steps and will never fully recover from her injuries.
Witnesses managed to capture the car’s number plates, but these were later discovered to be cloned. The vehicle involved was a BMW X5.
Detective Constable Davina Nash, leading the investigation, expressed the distressing nature of the case, emphasising that Mrs. Kaur’s injuries would have a permanent impact on her life. Constable Nash also highlighted the fortune that Mrs. Kaur’s daughter remained unharmed. The police believe that the BMW driver is a local resident of the Hounslow area and urged anyone with information to come forward.
Crimestoppers, independent of the police, has now offered a £5,000 reward for information that can secure justice for the victim. The hope is that this incentive will encourage someone to provide valuable details. Those with information on the driver or any other pertinent information can contact Crimestoppers anonymously via their website (Crimestoppers-uk.org) or by calling their UK Contact Centre at 0800 555 111. The charity guarantees complete anonymity.
Alexa Loukas, London Regional Manager at Crimestoppers, expressed sympathy for Mrs. Kaur and emphasised the significance of community members coming forward with any information they may possess. Loukas clarified that Crimestoppers operates independently from the police, assuring individuals that their personal details will not be collected.
