Derbyshire Constabulary has confirmed that a body has been found in the search for Richard Scott, a missing firefighter and RAF veteran from Chesterfield.
The update was shared in a statement issued on social media this afternoon, which read:
“Officers searching for Richard, who was reported missing from Chesterfield, have found a body.
His family are aware and our thoughts are with them at this time.
A formal ID has taken place. There are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances.”
Though the police have not officially named the individual, it is understood that the body is that of Richard Scott.
A Veteran Remembered
Tributes have begun to pour in for Richard, who was widely known in the community not only for his service as a firefighter, but also for his military background in the RAF. Friends, colleagues, and support pages have expressed their heartbreak, noting that Richard had battled mental illness in recent years.
One tribute read:
“We’re so upset for Richard’s family, friends, and colleagues. May he be released from the mental illness he endured in life.”
