Detectives Have Released Cctv Of The Last Sighting Of 79-year-old Peter Bennett Who Has Been Missing From His Home In Haringey Since Saturday

There are now serious concerns for Peter’s safety. He suffers from dementia and other serious health conditions and his disappearance is very out of character.

Peter was reported missing on Saturday evening when his carer arrived at his address in Rosecroft, Finsbury Park, N22 and found that he wasn’t there.

The last sighting of Peter was earlier that day, at 1.37pm. It was captured on a CCTV camera at the junction of Finsbury Road and Trinity Road. He is then believed to have walked in the direction of Wood Green High Road.

Peter is described as white, of slim build, with balding grey hair and a beard. He is approximately 5’10 to 5’11 in height. At the time of his disappearance, he was wearing black jeans, a yellow and black striped shirt, a dark grey jacket and black shoes. He wears glasses and speaks with a Newcastle accent.

He is known to frequent the Wood Green area of Haringey and has historic links to Camden.

Detective Inspector Paul Ridley, from the North Area Public Protection Unit, is leading the investigation to trace Peter and is appealing for assistance from the public.

He said: “The more time that goes by without a sighting or a trace of Peter, the more concerned we are becoming. He doesn’t have any of his personal belongings and is badly affected by his dementia. He needs medication which he does not have with him.

“Since Peter’s disappearance, searches have taken place and extensive enquiries have been completed. Sadly we are no closer to finding him.

“The CCTV footage I’m releasing today shows that Peter was alone, moving slowly and did not appear aware of his surroundings.

“Another person walked past him and may have seen where he went next. I would appeal for that person to come forward.

“We are very worried. Finding Peter is a top priority and we are asking for the public’s help.”

Anyone who sees Peter should contact the police immediately on 999. He is likely to need medical assistance and will be confused and disorientated. Please keep that in mind when approaching him.

People who live in the Finsbury Park area, or elsewhere in Haringey, are asked to check any doorbell or dash cam footage for sightings of Peter. Information about where he has been will help to build an important picture of his movements.

Anyone with information that could help in the search should call 101 providing the reference 21MIS010616. They can also contact the charity Missing People on 116000.
