High-Risk Missing Teen Sparks Massive Search Operation in Llandudno

A high-risk missing person alert has been issued for 16-year-old Athrun, who vanished on Saturday afternoon (May 10) near West Shore Beach in Llandudno, North Wales.

The Gloucestershire teen was last seen around 2pm wearing only blue and white patterned swimming shorts, prompting major concern for his welfare.

 Coastguard and Police Deployed in Full-Scale Search

North Wales Police, Coastguard teams, helicopters, search and rescue dogs, and underwater units have been deployed. DCI Simon Kneale confirmed the search is being treated as a “high-risk missing person enquiry”.

“Significant areas of Llandudno have already been searched and those efforts continue,” said DCI Kneale.

Residents have been urged to check their gardens, outbuildings, and sheds, while drone and water units continue scanning the coast.

Appeal for Dashcam and Photos

Police are asking the public to:

  • Review dash cam footage from 12pm–6pm on Saturday in the West Shore area.
  • Share photographs taken at the beach or surrounding areas on the same day.

Anyone with possible evidence is urged to contact North Wales Police immediately.

Public Advised Not to Join Search Independently

A force spokesperson said:

“Please do not place yourself at risk by attempting searches — trained teams are covering designated areas.”

The public is instead asked to remain vigilant and report any relevant information by calling 999 quoting reference: Missing/Athrun/10MAY.
