Police have launched an urgent appeal for information after a human placenta was discovered abandoned in Werneth Park, Oldham, on Friday afternoon. The discovery prompted the park’s closure while officers and forensic teams carried out investigations.
DI Day also appealed to the public for help, saying:
“I’m appealing to anyone who either knows the identity of mum or baby, or indeed mum herself, to come forward to us so we can ensure they are doing okay. I’d also appeal for anyone who has seen anything around the Werneth Park area over the last 24 hours that might assist our enquiries to reach out.”
Community Reassurance
Authorities have stressed that there is no risk to the wider community, and officers will remain in the area for the foreseeable future to provide reassurance and listen to any concerns from residents.
