Amanda Owen and her ex-husband Clive have embarked on an ambitious new project together, restoring a dilapidated 1800s farmhouse near Ravenseat Farm in North Yorkshire. The former couple, stars of Our Yorkshire Farm, are once again joining forces with their nine children in the upcoming More4 series Our Farm Next Door: Amanda, Clive & Kids, which premieres on October 14.
The farmhouse, known as Anty John’s, was purchased by Amanda in 2020. The Owens aim to restore it as a future legacy for their children. The Grade II listed building, which has been unused for 60 years, posed significant challenges with its missing roof, absent foundations, and outdated planning permissions.
Speaking about the project, Amanda shared, “I feel blessed to have been able to buy it. It was such an amazing opportunity to buy another farm with plenty of land.” However, she also acknowledged the difficulties of the renovation process, describing moments of feeling overwhelmed: “There were times where you’d stand among the rubble thinking, ‘OMG, where do I even start?’
Despite these obstacles, progress has been made. The roof has been completed, and the family is now focusing on installing windows. Amanda admitted that the project is slightly behind schedule, expressing a desire to have had a fire lit in the new home by Christmas.
Reuben Owen, one of the couple’s older children, has been actively involved in the renovation, sharing updates on social media. His posts show the family hard at work, with tractors and diggers preparing the site.
The series will follow the family’s journey as they transform the historic farmhouse into a cosy two-bedroom home complete with a living room, kitchen, shower room, and utility space. As Amanda and Clive set aside their personal differences to collaborate on this shared venture, fans of Our Yorkshire Farm will see how the Owens continue to build on their unique family legacy.
Our Farm Next Door: Amanda, Clive & Kids airs on More4 from October 14 at 9 p.m.
