Missing Nine-year-old Found Safe In New York Park

In a heartening turn of events, nine-year-old Charlotte Sena, who went missing during a solo bike ride in Moreau Lake State Park, has been found safe and “in good health.” The New York State Police announced the positive development after an intense days-long search.

The incident unfolded on Saturday when Charlotte disappeared during a bike ride in the park, prompting the activation of an amber alert for a “child abduction” on Sunday morning. The search efforts involved a massive deployment of resources, including over 100 personnel, 75 law enforcement officials, dogs, two drones, boats, and six underwater rescue teams.

Charlotte’s mother, Trisha Sena, publicly expressed her relief at the recovery of her daughter, emphasising that Charlotte is a “good kid” and stating, “I just want my daughter back.” She described Charlotte as a trusting child.

The amber alert was cancelled as the New York State Police confirmed a suspect is in custody regarding Charlotte’s disappearance. Details about the suspect were not immediately available.

Charlotte was last seen wearing an orange tie-dye Pokémon shirt, dark blue pants, black Crocs, and a gray bike helmet. The search drew widespread attention and concern from the community, with citizens and law enforcement working together to bring the missing child home.

New York State Governor Kathy Hochul expressed joy at the news of Charlotte’s safe return, extending gratitude to the New York State Police, New York Park Police, and all those involved in the exhaustive search. Governor Hochul conveyed her support to Charlotte’s family, stating, “Our hearts are with her family as they welcome her home.”
