Police are appealing for an elderly woman whose purse was stolen by pickpockets in Bromley to come forward

The theft occurred on September 6, 2024, at approximately 1:25 pm outside the Bromley High Street exit of M&S. The victim, believed to be a woman in her 70s or 80s, had her purse stolen while standing at the store’s entrance.

Police described the woman as white, aged between 75 and 80, wearing a cream coat, black trousers, and white shoes. She was using a black walking frame and carrying both a beige shoulder bag and an M&S carrier bag at the time of the incident.

One suspect has been arrested and remains in police custody, but authorities are urging the victim or anyone who may know her to come forward to assist with the investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the police on 101, quoting crime reference number 01/810190/24.

In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), MPS Bromley wrote: “Today 06/09/2024 at approximately 1:25 pm, an elderly female had her purse stolen by means of pickpocket while standing at the High Street entrance of M&S… Please share to help us identify her, the suspect has been arrested and is currently in custody.
