He revealed that nearly 200 people have been taken hostage, with reports of elderly men, women, children, and even babies being “murdered, mutilated, and burned alive.” The gravity of the situation was evident, as some family members of the missing individuals were present in the public gallery of The House of Commons listening to his statement.
“We call for the immediate release of all hostages,” Sunak declared, emphasising the urgent need for their freedom. Additionally, he confirmed that at least six British citizens have been killed in the attacks, while another ten remain missing. The toll on human lives is deeply distressing, and the British government is committed to providing support and assistance to those affected.
