Teen Sought for Beating 79-Year-Old Woman Outside Her Chelsea Home

Police are searching for a teenager who assaulted a senior citizen outside her home in Chelsea on Monday, Jan. 6.

Incident Details

The attack occurred at approximately 11:50 AM near West 17th Street and 8th Avenue. Police report that a 79-year-old woman was walking her dog near her apartment when she became involved in a verbal dispute with a teenager who had just exited the building.

The altercation quickly escalated into violence when the teen punched the elderly woman in the head and face, causing pain and bruising.

The suspect, last seen wearing all black clothing and red sneakers, fled westbound on 17th Street after the attack.

Emergency Response and Investigation

Officers from the 10th Precinct responded to the scene. EMS personnel treated the victim on-site, and she did not require hospitalization.

Detectives have since released surveillance images of the suspect, urging the public to help identify and locate the individual responsible.
