Chaos on the M25 this Friday as a lorry spill shuts down a major section of the motorway in Kent. A broken-down HGV spewed 250 litres of fuel across all three lanes between junction 5 (Sevenoaks) and junction 4 (Bromley), forcing authorities to close the anti-clockwise carriageway.

M25 Closed After Huge Fuel Spill

The spill has brought traffic to a standstill, with the motorway now closed anti-clockwise towards Dartford. National Highways warns the closure will last until at least the afternoon while emergency resurfacing takes place.

Traffic Nightmare as Delays Mount

  • Tailbacks are building up towards junction 6 and the A22 in Surrey.
  • Congestion is extending along the A21 past Chipstead.
  • Drivers face delays amid holiday-return traffic.

National Highways said: “Recovery is complete but resurfacing is required for all three lanes. This is a protracted job, so the closure remains until at least this afternoon.” They urged drivers to plan journeys carefully and expect significant delays.

Diversions Likely to Be Jammed

Alternative routes have been set up but are expected to get congested as drivers try to dodge the motorway shutdown. Motorists are advised to stay updated and consider avoiding the area if possible.
