Marcelle DaCosta, 36, of West End Avenue, Leyton, was unanimously found guilty of rape at Wood Green Crown Court on Monday, 16 January.
On Tuesday, February 8, he will be sentenced in the same court.
The victim, who was in her twenties at the time, was said to have gone to a party in Enfield on February 6, 2021.
She left the gathering and went to two more speeches with DaCosta and two others.
The woman attempted to leave the parties twice. The woman fell asleep in the early hours of February 7, 2021, at the second address in Enfield, and DaCosta raped her.
On February 13, 2021, she reported the incident to police, and detectives from the North Area’s Public Protection team began an investigation.
Officers with specialised training assisted the woman.
DaCosta was arrested on suspicion of rape on April 19, 2021. He was later charged on December 23, 2021.
“DaCosta is an extremely dangerous individual,” said Detective Sergeant Myles Bossman of the North Area Public Protection team, who led the investigation. In what can only be described as predatory behaviour, he subjected a woman he barely knew to serious sexual assault with no remorse. As she slept, the victim was at her most vulnerable. The decision demonstrates that such violence against women will not be tolerated. With the help of her family and the community, this woman demonstrated incredible bravery and courage by cooperating with a police investigation. I would like to thank her for her strength, and the many witnesses who provided evidence. I hope the conviction brings some closure to what must have been a traumatic experience.
“The Met encourages anyone who is a victim or witness to sexual assault, to contact police. Such serious offences will not be tolerated. This conviction serves as a reminder that those who commit such heinous crimes will be apprehended and justice will be served”.
