A Man Has Been Sentenced After Driving At More Than Twice The Speed Limit To Evade Officers And Being Found In Possession Of Drugs Worth A Potential £25,000 In High Wycombe

Mohammed Hussain, aged 34, of Rutland Avenue, High Wycombe, was sentenced to a total of five years’ imprisonment at Aylesbury Crown Court on Wednesday (3/5).

He was also disqualified from driving for four years following which he must take an extended re-test to be able to drive again.

A jury found him unanimously guilty of possession of a controlled drug (cocaine) with the intent to supply and dangerous driving.

On Tuesday 1 May 2018, officers spotted Hussain driving a white BMW 330d along the M40 southbound where he was seen to cut across all three lanes to exit at junction 4.

When Hussain saw officers, he accelerated away and failed to stop. He drove through a red light at the Handycross roundabout travelling at 60mph in a 30mph area, drove on the wrong side of bollards and the wrong way around another roundabout.

Hussain further increased his speed and was recorded driving at 80mph in a 30mph area. He eventually stopped in Halifax Road and ran down an alleyway of Rutland Drive.

Officers chased after him and found a white bin liner containing white powder in the garden of a property. This was tested later and was found to be 252g of high purity cocaine with a potential street value of £25,000. Fingerprints found on the bag were analysed and confirmed to be Hussain’s.

Hussain was found hiding behind a fence and arrested. He was in possession of a mobile phone and more than £300 in cash.

That evening, a warrant was executed at Hussain’s home address where officers recovered a money counter machine.

Analysis of a mobile phone recovered from the white BMW, forensically linked to Hussain, found evidence of drug dealing.

From DNA analysis, it was confirmed that Hussain was the driver of the BMW.

A Proceeds of Crime investigation is currently ongoing.

Investigating officer, Detective Sergeant James Faulkner, said: “This case has taken five years to conclude at court in part due to Hussain’s lies throughout the process.

“He has now been found guilty and has been sentenced as a result of his actions.

“Hussain had a total disregard for other road users that day, putting them at risk by travelling at more than double the speed limit in a dangerous manner.

“He was found to have a significant role in the supply of drugs, which can have a devastating impact on our communities.

“If you have information about the supply of drugs in your community, please contact your local police force on the non-emergency number 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
