Officers in an unmarked police car saw a Nissan Qashqai travelling at speed on the M20 London-bound towards junction 3 at around 8.30pm on Sunday 27 February 2022. The vehicle was being driven erratically and took a sudden exit from the A20 for Crittles Corner, failing to stop for the red traffic light on the roundabout.
The vehicle re-joined the A20, travelling coastbound, reaching speeds of 100mph before joining the M20 at junction 2. The motorist continued to drive dangerously, failing to stop for the officers when signalled to do so. The officers forcibly brought the Qashqai to a stop and detained the driver.
A man, in his forties and from Essex, was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop for police, driving under the influence of drugs and possession of cocaine. He has been released under investigation whilst enquiries continue.
