A prolific shoplifter has been sentenced for a serious assault in Southampton and a series of thefts in Winchester – UKNIP

Jordan James Bell, 25, formerly of Christchurch Road in Winchester, appeared before Winchester Crown Court on Friday 14 July where he was sentenced to a total of 16 months.

The court heard how on 21 December 2022, Bell had been sat outside Westquay in Southampton when police tried to arrest him, causing him to run away from the officers.

As a result, he barged into a 70-year-old woman causing a break to her humorous.

Bell was arrested and charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm.

He was also charged with 12 counts of shoplifting from stores in Winchester between 18 November 2022 and 8 February 2023, amounting to a total of over £700.

Bell pleaded guilty to all offences and was handed a 10 month sentence for grievous bodily harm, and six months for the shopliftings to run consecutively.

He was also given a five year restraining order banning him from entering Boots on Winchester High Street.
