A Teenager Has Been Arrested Following The Theft Of A Car From A Crematorium In Chatham

Officers received a report that a Ford Focus had been stolen from the crematorium in Maidstone Road, at around 1.50pm on Wednesday 2 March 2022. At 2.22pm, patrols spotted the vehicle on a slip road leading to A2 Watling Street near Gravesend. They requested the driver to stop, however he continued and was pursued into Dartford, where the Ford was safely bought to a stop near Baldwyn’s Park, Bexley. Following the incident, a 16-year-old boy from Chatham was arrested on suspicion of driving while unfit through drink or drugs, theft of a motor vehicle, failing to stop when requested to do so, dangerous driving and failing to provide a breath test. He has since been bailed until 17 March pending further enquiries.
