Mark Anthony Wilson, 35, of Allen Grove, pleaded guilty to 27* charges against nine victims ranging in age from seven to 19.
Between 2018 and 2020, he targeted vulnerable children and young adults across the UK, threatening to expose them and their families if they did not comply with his sickening requests for intimate, sexual photographs and video.
In some cases, he carried out those threats, much to the chagrin of his victims, who were terrified, humiliated, and degraded by him when he published their images online or to others.
Wilson once sent a video of her naked teenage son to the mother of one of his victims.
In another case, officers discovered images and video of a seven-year-old boy’s genitals sent between Wilson and the victim over 206 messages and Facetime calls.
Officers discovered explicit sexual images of an eight-year-old girl, as well as 1,149 messages between Wilson and the victim, many of which were graphically sexual in nature.
He also sent a 16-year-old girl racially offensive, abusive, and sexual messages, threatening to post videos on YouTube claiming her father had raped her. He received a nine-month sentence enhancement for the racially aggravated aspect of this offence.
Wilson was sentenced on 15 June 2022 at Teesside Crown Court after pleading guilty to all 27 charges at York Magistrates’ Court over three hearings between August 2021 and February 2022. The judge made a remark.
The defendant has committed multiple malicious and sexual offences against children online between 2018 and 2020, causing them great distress,” said Detective Constable Karen Barugh of Northallerton CID. They had to be terrified at the prospect of him carrying out his threats.
“Despite being arrested, he continued to commit crimes while on bail, his offences becoming more serious over time.” He was prolific in his child-targeting and has shown no remorse for what he did.”
Wilson was also given an indefinite order to prevent sexual harm.
