A36 Closed Following Multi Vehicle Collision

The A36 in Somerset is closed in both directions between the A361 (Beckington) and the A366 (Bath) due to a serious multi-vehicle collision. Avon and Somerset Police are on scene. Traffic is being diverted on to local routes. Fire appliances from Trowbridge and Frome attended the road traffic collsion involving 3 vehicles. There were 4 casualties trapped in the vehicles involved. Crews requested a further appliance and and the heavy rescue vehicle, sent from Warminster and Trowbridge respectively. Crews are working alongside paramedics to rescue casualties. Fire crews are using rescue gear, stabilisation equipment and other small tools to release all casualties. The Ambulance service are treating all casualties at scene and they are going to be conveyed to hospital. Fire crews have made the vehicles and the scene safe. Road users intending on using this section of road are advised to plan ahead and consider alternative routes. The road is likely to be closed for some time. More to Follow
