A5 in Bedfordshire closed in both directions following life changing collision

The A5 in Bedfordshire is closed in both directions between the A4012 (at Hockliffe) and the A5183 due to a serious collision involving a car and a motorcycle. All emergency services including Bedfordshire Police and the East Anglian Air Ambulance are in attendance. Northbound traffic is being diverted via the solid triangle symbol. Exit the A5 at the junction with the A505. Continue until the roundabout with the A4146. Take the third exit onto the A4146 (Billington Road) into Leighton Buzzard). Continue on Billington Road, passing through three roundabouts to the roundabout with the A4012. Take the third exit onto the A4012 (Hockliffe Road). Continue along this road and then rejoin the A5 northbound at Hockliffe. Southbound traffic should follow the hollow square symbol, this is via the above route, but in reverse. Please allow extra time for your journey should you be travelling
