Appeal after riot involving 11 people in Bracknell
Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses to an incident of affray, which resulted in injuries to at least 11 people. Between 10.30pm and 11pm on Sunday (17/3) following a boxing event at the Bracknell Leisure Centre, an altercation took place between a large group of spectators. The incident started directly after the last bout of the evening with up to 50 people involved. Eleven men, between the ages of 21 and 49, have identified themselves as being injured in the incident, although it is possible more people were hurt. Investigating officer PC James Doel, of Force CID based at Maidenhead police station, said: “This was a large scale affray with a number of people injured. “We have no specific description of any of the offenders, but they were described as a group made up of both white and black men aged from their late teens to fifties. “A small black car was seen leaving the scene at speed upon arrival of the emergency services. “There were some reports of people using knives, but this has been unconfirmed and no knives were located. “Many of the victims required hospital treatment for a variety of injuries. “I am appealing to anybody who witnessed what happened and knows the identity of any of the offenders to contact police with what they know. “I am also asking anybody who was present and may have recorded the incident on a mobile phone to make contact. “Similarly, if anybody else was injured, and have not yet contacted us, please do so. “This was an incident in which members of the public and security staff at the venue were attacked, and this behaviour is clearly unacceptable. “I would urge anybody who has any information, no matter how insignificant this may seem, to contact the 24-hour non-emergency number 101.” If you have any details which could assist the investigation please call 101 quoting reference 43190082038.
