A major fire has broken out at a warehouse on Norwood Road in Southall this morning, prompting a large-scale emergency response. Ten fire engines and around 70 firefighters are currently at the scene, working to contain the blaze.
The fire, which was first reported at 6:50 a.m., has been generating a significant amount of smoke, leading local authorities to issue warnings to residents in the surrounding area. As a precaution, residents have been advised to keep their windows and doors closed and to remain indoors where possible.
A London Fire Brigade spokesperson provided an update: “Although the level of smoke has reduced as firefighters work to extinguish the fire, we would continue to ask local residents to keep their windows and doors closed and stay indoors where possible.”
There are currently no reports of injuries, and emergency services are working to bring the situation under control. Road closures have been put in place around Norwood Road, and drivers are being urged to avoid the area due to heavy traffic congestion.
The Brigade’s Control Officers received nearly 40 calls about the incident, and crews have been mobilised from Southall, Heston, Hayes, and other surrounding fire stations to tackle the fire. The cause of the blaze is not yet known, and investigations are expected to begin once the fire is fully extinguished.
