Blaze rips through Lorry causing explosion near Whitchurch

A large goods vehicle has been totally gutted after a fire ripped through it causing a number of explosion in the village of Hurstbourne Priors this afternoon A number of nearby houses escaped damage from the explosion. One casualty was a thatch bus stop that was also destroyed after the fire spread. The driver pulled over when he realised there was a fire and thankfully escaped before the series of explosions, which the police seem to think were the huge tyres on the lorry. Many villagers lost power to their properties after an overhead power cable caught alight following the spread of the fire from the drivers cab. Fire crews from a number of stations rushed to put out the rapidly spreading fire. Crews used a number of hose reels and jets to tackle the fire. No one has been hurt. The road still remains closed and is likely to for sometime
