Reports of a Road traffic collision at Merstone Lane/A3056 junction in Newport on the Isle of Wight this morning. The incident is causing delays to traffic and local buses services that operate in the area. The Southern Vectis Number 2 Bus Service Newport/Shanklin Buses is being diverted via Blackwater Corner/Rookley. A spokesman said” The 07:56 route 2 Merstone/Newport will divert through Rookley to Blackwater Corner due to the collision on Merstone Lane.” There are also 20 minute traffic delays being reported in the area. This is also having a knock on effect along Briddlesford Road near Staplers as a lot of drivers are attempting to divert via Downend Road only to find Long Lane is still closed. Emergency services are on scene dealing with the incident. An Ambulance is also on the scene treating one of the drivers involved .
