Breaking Car Hits Embankment outside Wishing Well in Ryde

Emergency services are currently dealing with a single vehicle collision on the Isle of Wight this evening. The vehicle has left the ploughed into a grass embankment outside the Wishing well public house on Pondwell Lane in Ryde. Bystanders who witnessed the car taking the turn too quickly claim that the driver may be in drink. Officers from the joint operation Road Policing team from Hampshire and Isle of Wight Police are at the scene along with an ambulance who is Currently assessing one person from the vehicle who is understood not to have been injured. The man has since been arrested for driving whilst under the influence of drink or drug and has been taken to Newport Police station. The blue Ford Focus the man was driving has been pushed from its location by police and members of the public after it was causing the carriageway to be blocked. More to follow
