Breaking: Exculsive Police carry out raid in East Cowes Man arrested over Child Sex Grooming Claims
Police on the Isle of Wight have carried out an early morning raid at a property in the East Cowes area of the Island this morning( Wednesday 21st February 2018). A man who we are not currently naming has been arrested on suspicion of Child Grooming offences and has been taken to Newport Police station for questioning by officers from the Public protection unit based on the Island. The raid was carried out as part of an operation to target online grooming and the sharing of indecent images of children in the area. Searches of the properties have led to “a significant number” of seizures of computer equipment. A Police source said: “The activity comes after we received intelligence that devices at the addresses may have been used to download or share indecent images of children or in connection with grooming offences. “The equipment will now be examined by a specialists unit to determine what offences may have been committed. A number of items including a mobile phones and the man’s laptop has been sized by officers who carried out the raid just after 7am. Police have yet to comment on how many children are involved and how long the exchanged of text messages has been taking place.
