British coastguards are facing criminal charges in France following the deaths of four UK-bound migrants in the English Channel. The charges, filed by the refugee aid charity Utopia 56, include ‘involuntary manslaughter’ and ‘failure to render aid.

The tragic incident occurred on December 14, 2022, when dozens of people, including Afghan and Iranian nationals, found themselves in the water after their small boat experienced a maritime disaster. Despite rescue efforts, four individuals lost their lives in what has been described as a horrific event.
