On November 25, 2023, at 4.30pm, the Selsey Coastguard Team was mobilised to West Wittering Beach following reports of two people and a dog trapped by the tide on a sand bar. In a coordinated effort, the Coastguard Helicopter Rescue 175 and the Hayling Lifeboat were also launched for the rescue operation.

The lifeboat, with aerial support from Rescue 175, successfully located and retrieved the stranded individuals and their pets, ensuring their safety. Following the rescue, Rescue 175 conducted a comprehensive search of the area, confirming no additional persons were at risk.
