DJI Mavic 4 Pro Release Reportedly Delayed Again Amid Leaked Specs and Feature Changes

DJI’s long-anticipated Mavic 4 Pro drone may not be taking flight as soon as expected, with fresh leaks suggesting a delay to June 2025, despite earlier expectations of a May launch. This marks yet another shift in the rollout timeline for what will be DJI’s first Mavic drone release in over a year.

Delays Blamed on Hardware Hurdles

Industry insiders now believe the release has been pushed back due to technical difficulties with electronic neutral density (ND) filters and the drone’s ambitious 240W fast charging system. Reports indicate these features may even be dropped entirely from the final retail version due to persistent performance issues during testing.

In addition, leaker @OsitaLV claims the Mavic 4 Pro will not support Apple’s ProRes codec, unlike its predecessor’s high-end “Cine” models. Instead, the new drone will reportedly rely on XAVC-I High Profile 4:2:2 codecs, suggesting that a “Cine Premium” version may not be on the cards at all.

Leaked Specs Paint a Powerful Picture

A detailed — though unverified — spec sheet recently surfaced online, revealing several tantalising upgrades over the Mavic 3 Pro:

  • Triple-lens system:
    • 28mm wide-angle (100 MP)
    • 70mm medium telephoto (48 MP)
    • 168mm telephoto (50 MP)
  • 14 stops of dynamic range (vs. 12.8 on the Mavic 3 Pro)
  • OcuSync 4+ transmission with 4G connectivity via the upcoming RC Pro 2 controller
  • 95.3 Wh battery, potentially extending flight time to over 50 minutes (compared to 43 minutes on the Mavic 3 Pro)

Pricing and Package Options

According to early pricing leaks, the base model of the Mavic 4 Pro is expected to start at $2,250, with the top-tier Creator Combo — including the RC Pro 2 controller, 512GB onboard storage, and a suite of accessories — possibly reaching $4,500.

What’s Next?

While DJI has yet to confirm any official launch date, recent leaks now suggest an announcement may be made in early June, pushing the product’s arrival well past the originally rumoured April window.

With expectations mounting and leaks offering more clarity, drone enthusiasts will be watching closely for DJI’s next move — especially as the Mavic 4 Pro shapes up to be a potential game-changer in high-end consumer aerial photography.
