Driver charged after police pursuit in Swanley

A motorist arrested following a police pursuit in Swanley has been charged with multiple offences. On Sunday 23 June 2019 an officer saw a man leaving the Co-op service station, in London Road, who was carrying items reported to have been stolen. The man got into a passenger seat of a car which then drove from the scene. The car was pursued by the officer in a police vehicle and came to stop following a collision in Daltons Road, Crockenhill. William Mitchell, aged 29, of Berens Road, Orpington, is alleged to have been driving and was arrested at the scene. He was later charged with dangerous driving, obstructing or resisting a police constable in the execution of their duty, driving without insurance, driving without a licence and failing to provide a specimen for analysis. He was remanded in custody to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 25 June. The other suspect ran from the car following the collision and remains outstanding.
