While many were enjoying Christmas festivities, Eastbourne’s volunteer RNLI crew answered the call to assist an angling boat in distress, showcasing their unwavering dedication to saving lives at sea.
At 12:40 pm on Christmas Day, the crew’s pagers sounded as Solent Coastguard requested the launch of the All-Weather Lifeboat Esme Anderson. The task: to assist a vessel experiencing mechanical failure 16 miles south of Sovereign Harbour, stranded in the middle of busy shipping lanes.
A Dedication to Duty
The crew was stood down and returned home to rejoin their families, many just in time to enjoy their Christmas dinners—a testament to their selfless dedication.
