EastEnders Pulled from Schedules as Wimbledon and Women’s Euros Disrupt Soap Airings

Default Heading H1

Soap fans are facing frustration this week as Wimbledon and UEFA Women’s Euros coverage causes major disruption to EastEnders, Coronation Street, and Emmerdale schedules across BBC and ITV.

On BBC One, last night’s episode of EastEnders (Tuesday, 1 July) was the final one of the week, with no new episodes airing until Wednesday, 9 July.

When Is EastEnders Back on TV?

There will be no new EastEnders episodes on:

  • Monday, 7 July
  • Tuesday, 8 July

EastEnders returns with a double bill on Wednesday, 9 July:

  • One episode at 8:00pm
  • Another at 8:30pm

Followed by:

  • Thursday, 10 July – Episode at 7:00pm
  • Friday, 11 July – Episode at 7:00pm

What About Coronation Street and Emmerdale?

Today (2 July) marks the last new episodes of Coronation Street and Emmerdale for the week as well.

ITV has confirmed the next Coronation Street episode won’t air until Thursday, 10 July at 9:00pm, due to UEFA Women’s Euros coverage.

To ease the delay, ITV has made both Coronation Street and Emmerdale available on YouTube at 7am, the same time as their ITVX releases.

What Are Fans Saying?

Many soap fans have taken to X (formerly Twitter) to voice their frustration over the disrupted viewing:

“Checking BBC iPlayer for #EastEnders this morning only to remember it’s not on today…” wrote one.

Another added: “5 days of this torment.”

A third user posted: “Due to Wimbledon and the Woman’s Euros…expect the schedules to be all over the place…it’s just annoying. #EastEnders.”

Despite the disappointment, broadcasters have reassured viewers that normal programming will resume after the tournament coverage concludes.
