Emergency Evacuation Underway at Biggin Hill Airport Following Smoke Issuing from An Aircraft

Emergency services have been called to Biggin Hill Airport following reports of smoke issuing from a PA28 aircraft. The incident occurred on Main Road, Biggin Hill, where an evacuation is currently in progress.

The alarm was raised just before 3 pm on Sunday 15th September 2024 after smoke was seen coming from the aircraft, a PA28 aircraft prompting swift action from airport authorities and emergency personnel. At this time, the cause of the smoke remains unclear, but a full investigation is expected once the situation is under control.

Fire crews from the London Fire Brigade are on the scene, assisting with the ongoing evacuation of the aircraft and ensuring the safety of those on board. There have been no immediate reports of injuries, but the priority remains the safe evacuation of all passengers and crew.
