Enhancing Women's Safety In Swanley And New Ash Green

Officers have been speaking to women and girls in Swanley and New Ash Green to identify further opportunities to enhance their safety.

On Wednesday 15 November, patrols engaged with residents and commuters about any concerns they may have, with questionnaires completed by constables at nearby train stations and in shopping areas.

At least 30 women and girls were spoken to, and any responses will assist in future planning to prevent crime across the Sevenoaks district. They were also given advice on what steps they could take to avoid becoming a victim of an offence whilst out and about, as well as within the home.

Inspector Mark Stubberfield of the West Kent Community Safety Unit said: ‘The general feedback from most of the females we spoke to was encouraging, in terms of how safe they felt when walking alone or visiting areas within New Ash Green and Swanley. We remain committed to doing everything we can to keep it that way and the work we do with our partners, pubs and restaurants and at busy transport hubs such as the train station, remains key to ensuring women can feel confident and safe when they are out, without the fear of becoming victims of crime.’
