The incident occurred on the B1224 Wetherby Road, near the junction with the A1237, at approximately 9.20am on Saturday, June 29, 2024.
Tragically, a passenger in the Tesla, a 31-year-old man from the Newcastle area, was pronounced deceased at the scene. His family has been notified and is receiving support during this difficult time. The Tesla’s driver, a 32-year-old man from the Teesside area, sustained serious injuries and was taken to the hospital.
