Firefighters rushed to Winchester prison in the early hour of Sunday after reports of a fire breaking out in a cell.
Fire crews from Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue service stationed Winchester, Eastleigh and St Mary’s have been called to the scene, in Romsey Road, at around 1.50am on Sunday.
The fire is understood to have broken out in a cell on “B” Wing.
The Prison Service has been approached for comment
