Fire crews called to blaze in Shanklin

Isle of Wight fire crews from Shanklin,Ryde,Ventnor and Newport have been called to a blaze in Shanklin. A road closure has been put in place at Wilton Park Road in Shanklin that is affecting all drivers and buses have also been effected by the closure. Thick black smoke can be seen billowing into the air from several miles around after is it understood a number of outhouse caught alight and spread to a near by tree line. It is understood two sheds and trees are on fire in Wilton Park Road. The Route 3 will be running a revised timetable to Arthur’s Hill and Atherley Road to Shanklin Rail station in both directions.
