A major fire broke out on a ship carrying scrap metal at Royal Edward Dock in Avonmouth, Bristol. Avon Fire and Rescue Service received the call at 11:47am on Thursday, and emergency crews rushed to the scene to contain the blaze on the vessel named RIJN Confidence.
Avon Fire and Rescue Service deployed 11 fire engines, specialist appliances, and approximately 60 firefighters to tackle the blaze. Teams at the scene included a turntable ladder unit and the Bedminster fire station boat team.
The fire service spokesperson urged people to avoid the area while crews continued their efforts to contain the fire.
The situation remains under control, with no further escalation reported. Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the fire.
