Fire Fighter in Stable condition After Digger Incident

A retained firefighter from Hampshire Fire and Rescue has been rushed to Southampton General Hospital after being involved in an incident involving an industrial digger. Fire fighter Rob Porter who is based at Odiham Fire station near Basingstoke was rushed to the specialist Head injury unit at Southampton General Hospital in Southampton on Wednesday. The retained officer also works at full time at Thruxton Airport, home of the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance near Andover. His family has reported that he is in a stable condition. His brother has said that he has no spinal or brain injuries but has a major head injury. It is believed that the popular fire fighter will need several operations.
