A huge fire ripped through the Finches sports shop in Forest Hill last night, sparking chaos on Perry Vale. The blaze erupted just after 6.30pm on Thursday (October 16), gutting the shop floor, basement, storage areas, and the flats above.

Two residents and a dog were rescued from the burning flats by heroic members of the public before fire crews arrived.

Man Hurt but No Serious Injuries, Evacuations Underway

A man was injured but didn’t need hospital treatment, confirmed London Fire Brigade. Around 15 people from neighbouring buildings were evacuated to a rest centre. Most returned home overnight, though a few remain under local authority care.
