Specialised Training

The course prepares handlers and their canine partners to:

  • Travel to and board large vessels, such as cargo ships and cruise liners.
  • Conduct thorough searches for explosive devices in challenging and confined maritime spaces.

The training ensures both handlers and dogs are adept at navigating complex environments while maintaining precision and safety in their searches.

Enhanced Maritime Security

A spokesperson for the MPU training unit said:

“The addition of these five highly trained handlers and their dogs bolsters our ability to conduct critical searches on large vessels, enhancing safety and security in maritime operations. Their role is crucial in ensuring the protection of lives and infrastructure.”

Looking Ahead

The newly trained teams are now on standby, ready to deploy in operations where their specialized skills will play a key role in mitigating potential threats. This achievement underscores the importance of continuous training and preparedness in maintaining robust security measures in marine environments.
