Gas Leak Forces Evacuation of Shops and Flats in Seven Kings

Builders working on Cameron Road raised the alarm this afternoon after detecting the smell of gas, prompting a swift response from emergency services and engineers.

The alert was raised at 1.17pm, and Cadent Gas engineers arrived within 15 minutes. Working alongside police and fire crews, they cordoned off the area and evacuated five shops and the flats above them as a precaution.

A Cadent spokesperson said at 5.25pm:

“Our engineers are completing the repair to a service pipe at this time, which should be completed shortly. No gas supplies have been impacted and there has been no impact on the local Seven Kings station or train line. We thank people for their patience whilst we deal with this gas escape.”

Residents were expected to return home by early evening once repairs and safety checks were completed.

Despite the scare, the incident was managed swiftly, minimising disruption to the local area.
