Girl Airlifted to Hospital After Serious Collision on Lewes Road in Newhaven

A girl has been airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after being struck by a car on Lewes Road, Newhaven on Monday evening (30 June).

Emergency services responded to reports of a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian shortly after 4.25pm. The South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb) confirmed that paramedics were joined by the Air Ambulance Charity Kent, Surrey, Sussex, who provided on-scene care before flying the injured girl to King’s College Hospital in London for urgent treatment.

Road Closed for Investigation

A section of Lewes Road was temporarily closed to allow for emergency services and police to investigate the incident. The road has since been reopened.

The extent of the girl’s injuries is currently not confirmed, but authorities say she is continuing to receive hospital treatment.

Police Appeal for Witnesses

Sussex Police issued the following statement:

“Emergency services were called to a collision between a car and a pedestrian in Lewes Road, Newhaven, at around 4.30pm on Monday (30 June).
A girl was taken to hospital and is being treated for her injuries.
We ask that anyone who witnessed the incident or who has any relevant information, such as CCTV or dashcam footage, reports it to us.”
