Gosport and Fareham Rescue Coxswain Honoured After 500 Coastguard Taskings

Volunteer James Baggott praised for dedication after milestone achievement.

The Gosport and Fareham Inshore Rescue Service (GAFIRS) has paid tribute to one of its most experienced volunteers after he reached a remarkable operational milestone.

Coxswain James Baggott has now completed 500 HM Coastguard taskings, reflecting years of service, commitment, and sacrifice in support of local maritime safety.

A record of dedication

In total, Mr Baggott has contributed an extraordinary 3,881 voluntary hours, assisting in 123 rescues where people were considered to be at risk of losing their lives.

As well as being a local business owner and father of young children, Mr Baggott has balanced his family and professional responsibilities with his duties at GAFIRS, providing crucial support to the Coastguard on a 24/7 basis.
