Gravesend Man Jailed for Assaulting Woman in Repeated Violent Attacks

Eddie Ives, 41, of Harden Road, Northfleet, was sentenced to two years and three months in prison at Maidstone Crown Court on Tuesday, 13 May 2025 after pleading guilty to two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm (ABH) and two breaches of a Violent Offender Order.

 Repeated Attacks

Ives was already subject to a Violent Offender Order following a manslaughter conviction in 2013. But after his release, he resumed violent behaviour toward a woman he knew.

  • 16 October 2024: Ives assaulted the victim during an argument at a Watling Street hotel, grabbing her hair and later slamming her head into a parked vehicle, leaving her with a cut eyebrow.
  • 24 October 2024: Just days later, the same woman returned home from shopping to find Ives waiting for her. He became verbally abusive, then threw a glass at her face, causing cuts to her cheek, lip, and jaw.

He was arrested on 10 November 2024 following a police investigation.

Court Outcome

An additional indictment for coercive and controlling behaviour was ordered to lie on file. The court also imposed a five-year restraining order to protect the victim.

Police Condemn “Appalling” Behaviour

Detective Constable Sam Strudwick, the investigating officer, said:

“This appalling man showed no qualms in threatening, abusing, and assaulting a vulnerable woman despite being subject to a court order meant to prevent this type of offending. Ives’ actions displayed contempt for the court, and he deserves to be imprisoned.”

DC Strudwick praised the victim for her bravery:

“She has shown great courage in coming forward and assisting us to bring her attacker to justice. I hope she can now move on with her life knowing he is behind bars.”
