Two men were arrested in Worksop after police spotted a stolen vehicle packed with weapons. Officers tailed the car to a Harland Way car park just before 6pm on Thursday, 1 December.
Weapons Found in Stolen Car
On searching the vehicle, cops found a bat and a knife inside. The pair, aged 18 and 21, were hauled in on suspicion of conspiracy to steal a motor vehicle, going equipped for theft, and possession of an offensive weapon. Both remain in custody as investigations continue.
Police Crackdown on Rural Vehicle Thefts
“Thanks to the force’s roads policing unit and tactical support group, we’ve arrested two connected to these thefts and recovered several stolen vehicles,” said Inspector Hayley Crawford, District Commander for Bassetlaw.
“We know how devastating it is for people when vans, cars, or transport are stolen, especially in rural communities. That’s why it’s a top priority for us to catch those responsible.”
Tough Message to Criminals
Inspector Crawford warned: “To criminals thinking rural areas are easy targets – think again. We’re listening, acting, and working with partners to increase the chances offenders face justice.”
She added an appeal for info, saying: “If anyone has information, please get in touch. Your tip could be the final piece we need.”
