Hanwell Car Workshop Blaze Leads to 50 Evacuations and Bus Diversions

A large fire broke out early this morning at a vehicle workshop on Boston Road, Hanwell, leading to the evacuation of approximately 50 people from nearby properties. London Fire Brigade (LFB) received the first of over 15 emergency calls at 5:04 a.m. on 10 November, reporting the fire. Firefighters from Ealing, Southall, Acton, and surrounding areas responded swiftly.

Eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters were deployed to tackle the blaze, which engulfed a workshop containing three vehicles. One person was rescued from the scene by firefighters using a ladder, with no reported injuries. Fire crews also worked to cool several gas cylinders in the area to prevent further hazards.

The blaze caused disruptions to local transport, with five London bus routes — 195, 207, 483, E8, and SL8 — diverted due to road closures around Boston Road and the A4020 junction. Firefighters successfully brought the fire under control by 7:09 a.m.

A London Fire Brigade spokesperson commented, “Eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters responded to a fire on Boston Road, Hanwell. Around 50 people from adjacent properties were evacuated by the Brigade and Metropolitan Police Service as a precaution.”

Traffic in the area is expected to be impacted until the scene is fully cleared. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation
