A hero police dog named Dixie has been hailed for her crucial role in tracking down a stash of drugs following a dramatic foot chase through Brighton, during which an officer was assaulted.
The incident unfolded at 10pm on Friday, 25 April, when Sussex Police’s Tactical Firearms Unit (TFU), on plain-clothes patrol in the Dyke Road area, spotted a man acting suspiciously while using a taxi.
A search of the man’s home later uncovered more drugs and a quantity of cash, now seized as part of the continuing investigation.

“This incident is a shining example of our officers’ professionalism and quick thinking. PD Dixie and her handler played a key role in recovering vital evidence, and the teamwork shown by our units helped ensure the suspect didn’t escape justice.”
Charges and Appeal
The 21-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of:
- Assaulting an emergency worker
- Possession of cannabis with intent to supply
- Possession of an offensive weapon in a public place
He has been released on bail while investigations continue.
