Joint Probe Launched after Houses Left Gutted in Southampton

A joint investigation has been launched by Hampshire Police and Hampshire fire and rescue service this evening after two Southampton homes have been left gutted by fire. Police are working with partners from the Hampshire Fire and rescue arson task force after a woman was spotted running away from the homes that where engulfed in a fireball in the early hours on this morning on Poole Road. Fire crews and Police have spent most of the day carrying out an investigation after they blaze broke out in the early hours of this morning. Firefighters were called shortly after 4am and crews form St Mary’s, Hightown and Eastleigh rushed to the scene. A Hampshire Police spokesperson said: “A woman was reported as running away from the address when the fire started and we are making enquiries to locate her.” Firefighters were called shortly after 4am and crews form St Mary’s, Hightown and Eastleigh rushed to the scene. It is understood that the fire started in a bedroom on the first floor of one of the houses and ripped through the roof which has been left severely damaged.
