A significant police presence was reported on London Road in Forest Hill this morning following an incident that led to several arrests. At least two individuals were detained by Metropolitan Police officers in connection with the situation, although further details surrounding the arrests remain unclear.

Witnesses observed two police response cars and two police vans stationed near the roundabout by the Sainsbury’s store, where the operation appeared to be concentrated. Officers from the Met Police have maintained a visible presence in the area, as their investigation unfolds.

A Spokesman for the Met Police said: Police were called at 09:49hrs on Thursday, 31 October to reports of people shoplifting at a supermarket on London Road, SE23. Officers attended and found a man and a woman, both in their 40s, had been detained by the supermarket security team. They were both arrested and taken to a south London police station.
